Northern Lights

Wednesday night a few friends and I decided that we should try to go outside of town and see the northern lights. The forecast for the lights was really high and the clouds were supposed to clear soon. We left around 11 PM or so to go to a park southeast of Moholt. We ended up staying out until 3:00 AM, but the clouds never cleared. It was a fun time hanging out with friends, but it was still a bit disappointing we couldn’t see anything.

After staying out late I ended up sleeping in for a really long time and just hanging out at my apartment trying to get a few things done. All of a sudden at about 9:00 PM my room mate pounded on my door and said “DANNY GET OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW!!”. When I go outside the northern lights were really bright! Even with all of the light from town and all the lights around the apartment buildings in Moholt the northern lights were really clear. I started trying to round up all my friends that tried to see the lights the night before and scramble to get outside of town so we could see them better. Unfortunately by the time we got outside of town the lights were dying down. We got one last show, but it was nowhere near as bright as it was back at my apartment.

My camera actually managed to take pictures of the lights far better than I expected, but it didn’t work extremely well. Hopefully next time I’ll be able to get some better ones!
